Yang Hyun-jong returns in just 10 days—scheduled to start against Hanwha on the 26th

KIA’s Yang Hyun-jong (35) will return this weekend.

“Yang Hyun-jong will be registered and start on Saturday (26),” KIA manager Kim Jong-kook said on March 22.

Yang was removed from the roster on the 16th due to his recent slump. He has been training in Hampyeong to rebalance his pitches in the second team. As expected, KIA gave Yang only 10 days to recover and decided to start him against Hanwha on the 26th, 10 days after he was removed from the roster.

After struggling to last more than six innings in the second half of the season and giving up more runs, Yang suffered his seventh loss of the season on April 15 against the Gwangju Kiwoom, giving up seven runs on six hits (one home run) in 5.2 innings with four walks and five strikeouts. KIA gave Yang a break after he was roughed up for nine hits and one walk in two innings at LG Electronics on Aug. 8 before a rainout was called.스포츠토토

For KIA, which has the most games remaining among the 10 clubs in the late-season standings and a grueling schedule, Yang’s health is the most important variable. The team is hoping that Yang will recover properly and return.

“He’s not sick, he’s just taking a break mentally and physically, so he’s coming up with just 10 days of maintenance. In the end, it will be a starting point (to stabilize the starting lineup) if Yang Hyun-jong can pitch steadily for more than six innings like before,” said manager Kim Jong-kook.
