‘WBC Hero’ Yoshida, ML’s first home run ‘over the Green Monster’

Masataka Yoshida (30, Boston Red Sox), who recorded singles on all four hits in the opening series, hit his first major league home run.

Boston had a home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on the 4th (Korean time). 메이저놀이터

On this day, Yoshida started as Boston’s number 4, left fielder, and hit Yohan Oviedo with two runs over the left wall in the first inning, 1-3 behind, with one out and second base.

After watching Oviedo’s first pitch slider, Yoshida hit a 96.2 mph four-seam fastball on the outside to hit a home run.

With this, Yoshida had hits in 3 out of 4 games after advancing to the major leagues, and connected his first extra-base hit to a home run.

Yoshida signed a five-year, $90 million contract with Boston last winter. Since then, Yoshida has played an amazing role in the last 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC).

Boston is expected to consistently place Yoshida in left field and center batting order. It is noteworthy that Yoshida will create another success story for Japanese players.
