The Middle East is sweeping the mega sporting events.

The British BBC said on the 16th, “Saudi Arabia has been selected as the host of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. Saudi Arabia is the sixth host country since the event was founded in 2000. The competition will be held from the 12th to the 22nd of December.”

Saudi Arabia’s Sports Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal, said, “We have confirmed that Saudi Arabia is a world-class venue. I am excited to host some of the best clubs in the world in Saudi Arabia.”

In the ‘2022 FIFA Club World Cup Final’ held in Morocco on the 12th, Real Madrid won the championship by beating Saudi Al-Hilal 5-3. Al-Hilal achieved their first runner-up finish for a Saudi club. 온라인바카라

Recently, countries in the Middle East are sweeping away the hosting of various mega-sport events by advocating ‘oil money’. Saudi Arabia has confirmed hosting the men’s Asian Cup in 2027, and is pushing to host the women’s Asian Cup in 2026. The Men’s Asian Cup will be held in the Middle East for the third time in a row after UAE and Qatar. Korea, which put forward the cause of ‘hosting the Asian rotation’, also entered the competition to attract, but was pushed back by oil money. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is promoting the hosting of the 2030 World Cup in cooperation with Greece and Egypt.

Amnesty International is demanding an explanation from Saudi Tourism for becoming an official sponsor of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. It is not appropriate for Saudi Arabia, which ignores women’s human rights, to sponsor the Women’s World Cup. There are voices of concern around the world about Saudi Arabia’s use of sports as a ‘national image washing’ with enormous financial power.
