Man City midfielder on ‘PSG transfer speculation’: “My future? I honestly don’t know”
Bernardo Silva (28-Manchester City) has opened up about his future.
City defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final of the 2022-23 season at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, at 4 a.m. ET on Nov. 11. It was their first ‘big win’.
A goal midway through the second half proved to be the game-winner. In the 23rd minute, Manuel Akanji played a through ball to Silva, who was penetrating the penalty box. Silva’s cross then deflected off a defender and into the path of Rodri, who raced onto it and rattled the net with an exquisite winding kick.
After the game, French outlet Telefoot interviewed Silva and asked him about his future at City, to which he replied, “I honestly don’t know. We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks and months. For now, I just want to enjoy this moment.”
Silva joined City from AS Monaco for €50 million in the summer of 2017. He was not given as many chances as expected in the early days, but gradually established himself as a key player. His versatility has been remarkable. At times, Silva partnered Kevin De Bruyne in attack, at other times he dropped to the right to lead flanking attacks, and at other times he played in central midfield or in the third position to help with the basic buildup.
He was City’s midfield stalwart and unsung hero. In 306 official appearances, he scored 55 goals and provided 59 assists, winning five English Premier League (EPL) titles, two English FA Cups, four English Football League (EFL) Cups, and one UCL title.메이저사이트
Silva, whose contract runs through June 2025, has been heavily linked with a move away. Initially linked to Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has now emerged as the favorite. “PSG are targeting Silva as a replacement for Lionel Messi,” French publication Le Parisien reported on Tuesday. PSG are preparing to invest heavily this summer and will hold talks with City in the coming weeks. Barcelona also want Silva, but PSG are far ahead in terms of finances.”
That’s why the French outlet asked Silva about his future. Silva has been non-committal about staying or moving, which has raised questions.
