‘Man City accused of violating EPL rules, expulsion from the league is an extreme choice’

The Premier League Secretariat mentioned the possibility of disciplinary action against Manchester City (Man City).

The Premier League issued a statement on the 6th (local time) saying, “Man City have been referred to the Committee for violating the Premier League rules. Manchester City must provide accurate financial information. “There are problems with the club’s finances, especially with respect to revenue and operating expenses.”

The Premier League has announced that Manchester City have been accused of violating at least five Premier League rules in each season for nine seasons since the 2009-10 season. In particular, the Premier League required Manchester City to submit details of manager salaries from 2009-10 to 2012-13 and player contracts and salaries from 2010-11 to 2015-16.

Man City has invested astronomical costs since the Abu Dhabi United Group took over in September 2008 and the club’s status has changed significantly. Man City won the FA Cup in the 2010-11 season after the acquisition of the Abu Dhabi United Group, winning the major championship trophy in 35 years, and winning the Premier League in the 2011-12 season, and succeeded in winning the league in 44 years. Man City acquired Robinho for the highest transfer fee ever in the Premier League in 2008, followed by Grealish in 2021 for the highest transfer fee ever in the Premier League, sparing no money in recruiting players.

The Premier League Secretariat judged that there was a problem from the time the Abu Dhabi United Group took over Man City, conducted an investigation, and announced the allegations. Manchester City said of the incident 먹튀검증: “It is surprising that the Premier League has announced allegations against Manchester City in breach of rules. Clubs welcome independent committees to review rule violations. We look forward to a full resolution of the matter.”

The Premier League will hold an independent committee behind closed doors to judge whether Manchester City has violated the rules. The Premier League will not make any announcements pending the decision of the independent committee.

The BBC said of the case, “Given that it took the Premier League four years to investigate and announce, we cannot expect this case to be resolved anytime soon.” Manchester City will be armed with the best lawyers to review every single charge announced by the Premier League. If Manchester City lose the fight, any punishment is possible. We are in uncharted territory.”

England’s Sky Sports commented on possible penalties for Manchester City, saying, “According to Premier League rules, points reduction or expulsion from the league is possible, but it is extreme.” The independent committee, which will determine whether Manchester City has violated the rules, has the power to punish the club by suspending league play, deducting points, canceling or denying player registration, and fines.
