Levy wins…Man Utd ditch Kane, turn to ‘entry-level Holland’
English Premier League club Manchester United has withdrawn from the race to sign Harry Kane, 29.
“Manchester United have walked away from Kane after sensing a ‘no sale’ from Tottenham,” the Sun reported on Saturday (Aug. 16).
Having secured a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, United will be looking to add a frontline striker next season and have identified Kane as a top priority.
With Kane’s contract with Tottenham set to expire in a year’s time, the Red Devils are confident they can land him for the right fee. British media reported that chairman Daniel Levy had set a price tag of £100 million for Kane.
However, United’s dream of signing Kane was thwarted by Levy. Mourinho said that he could not sell Kane within the same league.
“Manchester United are looking for new striker options as transfer talks for Kane have not progressed at all,” said journalist Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market. “Manchester United feel that Tottenham have no intention of selling Kane to them and do not want to enter the transfer saga in the next two months.”
Accordingly, Manchester United’s target to replace Kane was also discussed. According to Fabrizio Romano, “Rasmus Højlund” was mentioned. The Danish-born striker, who plays for Atalanta in the Italian Serie A, is one of Europe’s rising stars.
This season, in his first year in the big leagues, he has scored nine goals and added two assists in 32 Serie A appearances for Atalanta.
Hoi Lun has been compared to Manchester City’s Elling Holland because of his 6-foot-4 frame, speed (he runs the 100 meters in under 11 seconds), and goalscoring ability. He was born in 2003 and has a lot of potential.스포츠토토
He has a contract with Atalanta until the summer of 2027, and his transfer fee is reportedly around £40 million. That’s half the price of Kane.
Benfica forward Gonzalo Hamus, who starred for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is another player on the list. However, it is believed that Benfica will demand a similar transfer fee for Hamus as Kane.
