Introduction of ‘pitch clock’ → shortening game time… MLB team “extends beer sales hours to 8 times”

With the introduction of the ‘pitch clock’, as the American Major League (MLB) game time is shortened, clubs that increase beer sales time have appeared.

The Associated Press reported on the 13th (Korean time) that at least four teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers, have extended their beer sales hours from seven to eight.메이저사이트

Several teams, including the Miami Marlins and New York Mets, are considering extending time. Prior to this decision, only the Baltimore Orioles sold beer up to eight innings out of all 30 major league teams.

Although there are no regulations regarding the time of liquor sales, MLB teams generally sold beer for 7 innings. It was a measure to prevent excessive drinking by fans who come to the baseball stadium by car.

The reason the situation has changed is because of the pitch clock. The MLB Office introduced a pitch clock that limits pitching time from this season. Thanks to the promotion of fast play, the average playing time was reduced by 31 minutes from last season. Clubs had to actively deal with these changes.

“The increase in beer sales hours is a kind of test,” said Rick Schlesinger, head of business operations at Milwaukee Brewers.
