“Good good very good!” Yang Eui-ji exclamations of admiration… The 20-win ace came back stronger

Raul Alcantara (31, Doosan Bears), the ‘ace of 20 wins’, showed a stronger pitch in his first bullpen pitching.

Doosan foreign duo Alcantara and Dylan Pyle conducted their first bullpen pitching in training on the 4th day of the 2023 Doosan Spring Camp held at Blacktown International Sports Park in Sydney, Australia on the 4th.

In the first bullpen pitching of the one-two punch, which will determine farming in a season, head coach Lee Seung-yeop as well as head coach Kim Han-soo, who was concentrating on commanding the field team, visited the bullpen for the first time. Coach Kim said, “I came to the bullpen for the first time because the two foreign pitchers were pitching for the first time.” Expectations were high for both players.

Alcantara formed a battery with main catcher Yang Eui-ji and threw 25 pitches. He used fastballs and forkballs, and showed the same powerful pitches as three years ago when he won 20 games. Yang Eui-ji, who received Alcantara’s ball for the first time, exclaimed, “Good, good, very good.”  스포츠토토

After pitching, Alcantara said, “It was my first bullpen pitching, and both the senses and location were good. Today, I threw around 50-55%,” he said. “I asked Yang Eui-ji what kind of feedback he wanted in the future. He plans to devise a strategy by pitching the bullpen on how to use the pitches he has together in the future.”

The coaching staff also gave Alcantara a passing grade for his first pitching. Director Lee Seung-yeop said, “It was good. He’s still new, but since he’s been playing for two years in a higher league, his skills can’t be said to have deteriorated. I am 32 years old, so in a way, it is the time when I can throw the best ball. It would have been a good study while experiencing Japanese professional baseball.”

Pitching coach Jung Jae-hoon said, “I have been building my body well. He thinks he’ll be able to hold on well enough if he doesn’t get injured. He threw a splitter before that, but he said that he refined his pitch a little more as he experienced Japanese professional baseball.”

‘New Face’ Dylan also took off his veil next to Alcantara. He paired up with backup catcher Jang Seung-hyeon and threw 25, as did Alcantara. Coach Jung Jae-hoon said, “As you can see in the video, the breaking ball seems to be stable. He hit the first pitch and was fine. At first, I felt the same as LG Plutco, but it seems to be the case in reality. Control seems to be fine.”

“It was my first pitch, and it felt good,” Dylan said. The Korean official ball is small and it feels like it sticks to me, so I really like the feeling. I think it will be of great help in using the breaking ball,” he said with a satisfied smile.
