In baseball, the LG Twins defeated the Kiwoom Heroes in a 12-inning thriller to extend their winning streak to seven games.

The kt wiz extended their winning streak to six games after sending the SSG Landers to their third straight loss. SSG, which has lost three straight, is 5.5 games behind leader LG and four games behind fourth-place kt, which has won six straight.

LG rallied from a 2-4 deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning against Kiwoom in the Baseball World Series 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday, with Park Dong-won hitting a tiebreaking two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth and Jeong Joo-hyun hitting the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to snatch a thrilling 5-4 victory.

With the win, LG extended its winning streak to a team-high seven games this season and moved 5.5 games clear of second-place SSG Landers, who also lost on the day.

Meanwhile, ninth-ranked Kiwoom suffered a heartbreaking upset and dropped their fifth straight game.

Kiwoom opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after Ronnie Dawson singled, stole second and came home on Song Sung-moon’s infield single.

Lee Ju-hyung came up to bat next and hit a two-run home run to right field to make it 3-0.

LG got one run back in the bottom of the inning when Hong Chang-ki, who drew a walk, scored on an error.

However, Kiwoom scored a run in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Lee Yong-kyu with runners on first and third to make it 4-1.

LG cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth when Hong Chang-ki singled to left field with runners on first and second after singles by Moon Bo-kyung and Park Hae-min.

In the bottom of the ninth, after leadoff hitter Moon Bo-kyung drew a walk, Park Dong-won hit a two-run home run to left into the outfield stands to tie the game at 4-4 and send it into extra innings.

The game came down to the 12th inning.

Kiwoom had the bases loaded in the top of the 12th, but couldn’t capitalize as they couldn’t get a run across.

With runners on second and third in the bottom of the 12th, LG scored the game-winning run on a dramatic infield single by Jung Ju-hyun.

The KT Wiz swept a midweek three-game series against the SSG Landers to extend their winning streak to six games.

KT won the first game of their 2023 KBO home series against SSG 3-1 at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon on Wednesday.

Coming home after sweeping a three-game series in Changwon against the NC Dinos last weekend, KT extended its winning streak to six games and is now within striking distance of the top spot.

SSG opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Choi Ji-hoon singled in front of the pitcher, stole second and scored on Choo Shin-soo’s double down the left field line.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, KT quickly turned the game around with a big inning.

With runners on first and second, Park Byung-ho hit a single that dropped in front of the center fielder to make it 1-1.

After Jang Jang-woo drew a walk to load the bases, Hwang Jae-gyun hit a two-run double to left field to make it 3-1.

After the comeback, KT’s starter Uhm Sang-baek held SSG to one run on six hits through seven innings before Park Young-hyun in the eighth and Kim Jae-yoon in the ninth secured the win.

SSG fell to its third straight loss.

In a hard-fought game in Pohang, Kim Do-young and Park Chan-ho combined for four hits as the KIA Tigers defeated the Samsung Lions 12-8.

With the win, sixth-place KIA (42-43-1) moved to within 1.5 games of the fifth-place NC Dinos with one game in hand.

KIA opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI single from Socrates Brito.

After a pitching change, Kim Hyun-jun drew a walk and Ryu Ji-hyuk singled before Koo Ja-rook lined a single to right to make it 1-1.

One inning later, Kim Dong-yeop made it 2-1 with a single to right, and two batters later, Lee Jae-hyun hit a two-run double to make it 4-1.

Kia got two runs back in the top of the fourth inning when Ko Jong-wook and Park Chan-ho singled, followed by Kim Do-young’s RBI single up the middle.

In the sixth inning, after Park Chan-ho led off with a double, KIA capitalized on five hits and two errors to score six runs and take a 9-4 lead.

Samsung scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh with four hits, including RBI doubles by Koo Ja-rook and Kim Tae-hoon, to cut the deficit to 7-9.

However, KIA scored three more runs in the top of the ninth, including a triple by Socrates, to take a 12-7 lead and secure the win.

Samsung scored one run in the bottom of the ninth, but was unable to overcome the massive deficit.

Hanwha’s Kim Tae-yeon hits two-run game-winner in first inning, Peña pitches eight shutout innings to snap four-game losing streak

In Daejeon, the Hanwha Eagles, led by Kim Tae-yeon’s home run, defeated the Doosan Bears 5-2 to snap a four-game losing streak.

Hanwha took an early lead in the first inning when Jung Eun-won drew a leadoff walk and Kim Tae-yeon followed with a two-run homer to left field one inning later.

In the fourth, Noh Si-hwan doubled and Oh Sun-jin singled to center field to make it 3-0.

After being held to one hit until the sixth inning, Doosan got one run back in the top of the seventh when Jung Soo-bin hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded on three pitches.

However, Hanwha responded with a two-run triple by Lee Do-yoon after a pitching change to extend the lead to 5-1.

Doosan got one run back in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single by Jang Seung-hyun, but couldn’t get any closer.

Hanwha starter Felix Peña struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings, but held the Doosan bats to one hit and one run.

Avenging a loss the day before, NC pulled within one game of the fourth-place KT Wiz.

After back-to-back singles by Son Asub and Park Min-woo, Park Gun-woo hit a two-run double to left-center to make it 1-1.

With runners on second and third, Jason Martin’s sacrifice fly made it 2-1, and Kwon Hee-dong followed with a single to left to make it 3-1.

After scoring a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Kwon, NC added four more runs in the top of the ninth on five hits, including a two-run triple by Park Min-woo.

NC starter Widener struck out eight and allowed one run on four hits through seven innings to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Son went 3-for-5 with a home run and one RBI, while Kwon went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI to lead the offense.
